Get help with the Mac SEO spider: install questions, crawls that stall, robots.txt blocks, and bug reports.

How to get help

Email support@seotracer.app or use the contact form on this page. We reply within 24 hours. A useful note includes your macOS version, the site URL you crawled, what you expected to happen, and what you saw instead. A screenshot shortens the back-and-forth.

Product questions are answered on the FAQ. Crawler identity, the user-agent string, and robots.txt examples live on the SEOTracerBot page. Ideas for the app can be filed on the feature request board, where other people can vote.

Install

SEO Tracer is a native Mac app distributed on the Mac App Store. The homepage lists macOS 15.6 or later for download. The terms of service require macOS 15.5 or later, and an internet connection when you purchase or subscribe. There is no Java runtime to install. The app is optimized for Apple silicon (M1, M2, and M3) and also runs on Intel Macs.

If the App Store will not install it, confirm the macOS version on that Mac, then email support with the version and any error text the store shows. Free use does not require a credit card. Paid crawl limits are lifetime, monthly, or yearly plans sold by Apple, as described in the terms.

A crawl looks stuck

Speed depends on your connection, how fast the site responds, and the crawl settings. To go faster, reduce the crawl delay in Settings, raise concurrent connections only when the server can handle it, and filter out file types you do not need, such as images or PDFs. A long delay or a slow host makes the progress look frozen even while the app is still waiting.

Also check that the Mac is online. If the same URL never finishes, note that URL and email support with your macOS version and a short description of the screen. A host that disallows the crawler will skip those URLs rather than hang forever. That case is covered below.

robots.txt is blocking the crawl

SEOTracerBot respects robots.txt, including Disallow, Allow, and Crawl-delay where the app supports it. A site that disallows the bot will not be fetched. That is a valid opt-out, not an app failure. Some users of the Mac app change the user agent for their own testing. Only the default string on the bot page should be treated as SEOTracerBot.

If you own the site and you want the audit to proceed, allow the user agent in robots.txt. If you want it to stay out, leave the disallow rule in place. Sample rules, the user-agent string, and how to verify a request are on the SEOTracerBot page.

Report a bug

Email support@seotracer.app with a short description, the steps that reproduce the problem, your macOS version, and a screenshot if you have one. Say which site you were crawling. Anonymized crash reports may already be sent so crashes can be diagnosed. Those reports do not include the websites you crawl. Crawl data stays on the Mac, as the privacy policy describes.

The terms note that broken-link and HTTP checks can report false positives in some cases, for example when an image loads on a page but returns an error when the file is requested directly. If that is what you are seeing, include the URL and the status code so we can tell a product bug from that case.
